Energy Web Expands $EWT Usability with New Payment Feature

Several months ago, Energy Web made a strategic decision to enhance the utility of the EWT token. Through continuous brainstorming sessions and value-driven initiatives, we’re proud to announce a major milestone in our journey to expand EWT usability on-chain.

As brainstorming sessions and value bringing ideas aiming for further enhancing EWT usability continue, we are proud to announce our first milestone release.

Introducing EWT Payments on Launchpad

Today, we are excited to introduce the long-awaited EWT payment option to our Solution as a Service platform, Launchpad. With this new feature, every EWT holder can now directly use their tokens to purchase any subscription available on Launchpad without needing to convert them into fiat currency.

How EWT Purchases Work

Since EUR serves as the base currency for Launchpad transactions, the EWT/EUR exchange rate will be sourced from CoinGecko, with updates every 30 seconds to ensure accurate conversion rates.

Steps for Using EWT Payments:

• Users must first top up their Launchpad EWT account via the Energy Web Chain (EWC) with a sufficient balance to cover at least one month’s subscription fee.
• The billing mechanics remain the same as fiat-based payments:
• Upon subscription, users will be billed monthly, with EWT automatically deducted from their Launchpad account.
• A fiat-equivalent invoice will be issued for each payment to maintain transparency and documentation.

Bringing Additional Value: What’s Next?

To create additional benefits for the Energy Web ecosystem, a portion of each EWT-based purchase on Launchpad will be re-routed as a reward to one of our public pools. This initiative ensures that real monetary inflows from Launchpad purchases contribute directly to supporting running public pools.

Since EWX functionality for increasing pool rewards is already live, we anticipate showcasing the first pool top-up based on EWT Launchpad purchases soon. This positive feedback loop will not only increase the utility of EWT but also encourage our community to further explore Energy Web technologies and promote the ecosystem organically.

More details on the frequency of reward re-routing will be shared in the near future. We are committed to transparency and will regularly showcase these increases to our community.
